Hourly to salary calculator: the formula
Annual pay = hourly pay × hours per week × paid weeks per year
Average monthly pay = annual pay ÷ 12
Pay per paid week = annual pay ÷ paid weeks per year
For example, $25 per hour × 40 hours × 52 paid weeks = $52,000 per year, $4,333.33 per month, and $1,000 per paid week.
How to convert salary to hourly pay
Hourly equivalent = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × paid weeks per year)
A $52,000 annual salary with 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks equals $25 per hour. To convert monthly pay to annual pay, multiply by 12; for weekly pay, multiply by paid weeks per year.
Paid weeks and monthly averages
With $25 per hour, 40 hours per week, and 50 paid weeks, annual pay is $50,000 and average monthly pay is $4,166.67. Pay per paid week remains $1,000. Monthly results spread annual earnings across all 12 months; they do not predict an actual paycheck or assume every month has four weeks.
When entering an annual salary, that amount stays fixed. Changing paid weeks or weekly hours changes its hourly and weekly equivalents. For an hourly wage, those settings change the annual estimate.
Rounding and limits
Results use unrounded values internally and display two decimal places. Pay must be between $0 and $1 billion per selected period. Hours per week must be greater than 0 and at most 168; paid weeks must be greater than 0 and at most 52. Fractional hours and weeks are allowed.
All amounts are gross pay before taxes, benefits, and other deductions. This simple conversion assumes a constant rate and excludes overtime premiums, bonuses, and payroll calculations.
