Time Card Calculator

Start with one shift and add rows for the rest of your week.

Your time card

Use local clock times. An earlier end time means the next day.

How to calculate weekly hours

Subtract start time from end time, add 24 hours for an overnight shift, and subtract unpaid break minutes. Add the worked minutes from every row for your weekly total.

Worked minutes = elapsed shift minutes − unpaid break minutes
Decimal hours = worked minutes ÷ 60

Example

9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid break gives 8 hours 0 minutes, or 8.00 decimal hours. Five such shifts total 40 hours 0 minutes (40.00 decimal hours).

Overnight shifts and rounding

If the end time is earlier than the start time, it is treated as the next day. For example, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM is 8 hours before breaks. Equal start and end times mean zero hours, not a 24-hour shift. Each row represents a shift shorter than 24 hours.

Breaks must be whole, nonnegative minutes and cannot exceed the shift length. Worked time is calculated in exact minutes. Decimal hours are displayed to two decimal places using ordinary rounding; totals are summed before rounding. No clock-in rounding or payroll rules are applied.

What this total means

Enter one row per shift. Clock times do not account for daylight-saving changes or time-zone changes. Check your records if a shift crosses either. Only enter unpaid breaks; paid breaks remain part of worked time.
